After a goalless first half, East Kilbride raced into a two-goal lead against Tranent thanks to a Joao Balde header and a stunning effort from John Robertson.
However, Tranent fought back as Harry Girdwood and then Euan Greig found the net.
And it looked as if the East Lothian side would take all three points when Danny Handling scored in stoppage time only for East Kilbride to find a leveller.
Musselburgh sit five points clear at the top of the EoSFL Premier Division after a narrow win over Sauchie.
Jordan Smith’s early effort was all that separated the two sides.

Renton pulled his side level and then completed his hat-trick to give Preston three valuable points.
Finally, in the Third Division, Ormiston Primrose lost out for the second week in a row against Livingston United.
Goals from Ryan Allan, Matt Meechan and Ryan Mahood had the West Lothian club three goals up before a trialist pulled one back for Ormiston.
