FIVE of East Lothian’s rugby clubs are back in action this weekend, with a mixture of league and knockout fixtures being played.
Only Ross High are not in competitive action after they lost out to Livingston in the first round of the National Shield.
In the Arnold Clark Premiership, Musselburgh face a vital-looking trip to Marr.
The Stoneyhill side sit bottom of the table, with just one win from their opening nine encounters.
That victory came at home to Kelso at the beginning of September but there have been promising signs in recent weeks, including pushing Watsonians close last time out.
This weekend’s hosts are just six points above them and have only won two of their contests.
Marr’s last win also came in September, when they also defeated Kelso.
Meanwhile, Preston Lodge will look to get back to winning ways when they make a lengthy trip south to Dumfries and Galloway in National League Division Two.
The reigning National League Division Three champions started the campaign in impressive fashion, with victories over Gordonians and Berwick, either side of a draw with GHK.
However, since then, the Pennypit team have lost four out of four, although they were desperately unlucky against Lasswade last time out.
Their Wigtownshire opponents Newton Stewart sit bottom of the table and lost 41-15 to Stewart’s Melville last time out.
The hosts’ only win of the league season came away to Kirkcaldy last month.
North Berwick will be hoping that the break for the international clash between Scotland and Fiji could result in a change of fortunes.
They prop up National League Division Four and currently sit on -3 points.
However, they face a must-win clash with second-bottom Greenock Wanderers this weekend.
A home win for the Recreation Park side could kickstart their season, having defeated Stewartry last month.
Meanwhile, both Dunbar and Haddington are looking to progress in the National Shield.
Dunbar head to Midlothian when they take on Dalkeith in the second round of the knockout competition.
The two sides were regular foes last year in East Region League Division Two before the Midlothian men were promoted.
Dunbar look a good shout to follow suit this term and will be hoping to take their league form into the knockout game.
Meanwhile, Haddington and Langholm are also familiar foes as both play in East Region League Division One.
Haddington, who defeated Penicuik to gain a spot in the second round of the National Shield, narrowly lost out on a trip to Langholm last month and will be hoping home advantage proves decisive.
