RESULTS this afternoon (Saturday) could have a sizeable impact on the top and bottom of tables involving East Lothian football teams.
Tranent travel to East Kilbride in the Scottish Lowland Football League (SLFL).
Meanwhile, in the top flight of the East of Scotland Football League (EoSFL), Dunbar United and Musselburgh Athletic have home advantage.
The Seasiders take on third placed Jeanfield Swifts while table-topping Musselburgh host Sauchie Juniors.
Haddington Athletic travel to Dunipace while Preston Athletic and Ormiston Primrose also have away trips.
In the First Division, Preston head to Inverkeithing Hillfield Swifts while Ormiston face an immediate rematch with Livingston United in the Third Division.
Match of the Day
East Kilbride v Tranent
Scottish Lowland Football League
Kick-off 3pm
FAMILIAR foes lock horns once again as East Kilbride and Tranent face off at the top of the SLFL.
The two sides have regularly battled it out at the top of the table – as well as in various cup competitions – in recent years.
East Kilbride moved into first place during the week with victory over Gretna 2008.
However, Tranent could move above them with a win – and Caledonian Braves could capitalise if the game ends in a draw!
Dunbar United v Jeanfield Swifts
East of Scotland Football League Premier Division
Kick-off 2.30pm
AN INTRIGUING battle between two teams in the top half of the top flight of the EoSFL.
Dunbar have been finding their feet in recent weeks after something of a slow start to the campaign.
Meanwhile, their hosts surrendered second place in the table when they lost out to Hill of Beath Hawthorn in midweek.
The Seasiders will be hoping home advantage proves key as they look to continue to move up the standings.
Dunipace v Haddington Athletic
East of Scotland Football League Premier Division
Kick-off 2.30pm
ANOTHER battle between two teams in the top half of the table pits Dunipace against Haddington.
The Hi Hi earned a valuable point at high-flying Whitburn last weekend and are handily placed to challenge for second spot.
Meanwhile, Dunipace have been inconsistent and won six of their 13 games while losing five.
Musselburgh Athletic v Sauchie Juniors
East of Scotland Football League Premier Division
Kick-off 2.30pm
SCORING late goals tends to be the sign of a team doing well at the top end of the table.
Declan O’Kane grabbed a late winner for Musselburgh on Tuesday night and that could be vital come the end of the season.
Back at home, they host a Sauchie side looking to climb away from the relegation zone after being docked points.
A win for Musselburgh could open up their lead at the top of the standings.
Inverkeithing Hillfield Swifts v Preston Athletic
East of Scotland Football League First Division
Kick-off 2.30pm
ONLY goals scored are keeping Preston Athletic above their hosts and out of the First Division drop zone currently.
However, the congested nature of the bottom half of the table means three valuable points would push Preston up, potentially, three places.
It is a crucial game as their Fife opposition look to leapfrog their visitors and go clear of relegation themselves.
Livingston United v Ormiston Primrose
East of Scotland Football League Third Division
Kick-off 2pm
MANAGERLESS Ormiston Primrose face an immediate rematch with Livingston United.
The West Lothian side leapfrogged their opponents with a win at New Recreation Park seven days ago.
That marked the end of Guy Kerr’s time in charge of Ormiston, who will look to get back to winning ways.
