CUP success meant it was not a winless weekend for East Lothian’s football sides.

Only three of the county’s clubs were in action on Saturday as Musselburgh Athletic reached the third round of the Scottish Cup while Dunbar United and Preston Athletic went down to league defeats.

Musselburgh came through against Caledonian Braves to set up a tie with Bo’ness United at the end of next month.

The visitors to Olivebank took the lead through Ryan Murray on 32 minutes.

Musselburgh’s chances suffered a further blow when Andy Dempster was sent off early in the second half.

However, they managed to turn it round against the Scottish Lowland Football League (SLFL) leaders.

Jackson Barker equalised before Jonny Court found the winner midway through the second half.

Meanwhile, in the top flight of the East of Scotland Football League (EoSFL), Dunbar lost out at Dunipace, who played more than an hour with 10 men.

The scores were blank at the break but quickfire goals from Jordan Herron and Dylan Tennant had Dunipace on top.

Bob Berry pulled one back before another quickfire brace, this time from Kyle Ewing and Ewan Sutherland, wrapped up the points for the home side.

Finally, in the EoSFL First Division, Preston Athletic let slip a half time lead against Lochore Welfare.

Lewis Inglis had the Pennypit club in front before the visitors levelled two minutes after the restart.

The comeback was complete with 15 minutes to play as Lochore picked up their first three points of the campaign.

There is a full fixture card this weekend as Tranent finally have a home game as they host Cumbernauld Colts in the SLFL.

Dunbar United, Haddington Athletic and Musselburgh Athletic are all away from home in the top flight of the EoSFL.

Dunbar head to a Sauchie side facing up to a points deduction while Haddington travel to Whitburn and Musselburgh go to Hill of Beath Hawthorn.

Preston Athletic welcome Edinburgh South in the First Division while Ormiston Primrose host Livingston United in the Third Division.
