A TOP-10 finish helped Lewis Rollo celebrate an impressive double in his debut season in Bennetts British Superbikes.
The final round of the competition took place at Brands Hatch over the weekend and saw Rollo looking to clinch the Rookie Championship to go alongside his Pathway Championship win.
And he did that in style, with maximum points across the three races in his class.
The 25-year-old, who endured a nightmare start to the season, said: “It’s been an amazing season.
“In Navarra at the first round, we would never have imagined achieving what we have.
“We’ve led races, been in podium positions in the wet and dry, battled with some of the top teams within the paddock, secured a podium at Snetterton, we’ve ticked so many boxes.
“I can’t thank the team enough for this season.
“We were definitely the underdogs at the start and I think we made a few people see we mean business!
“I can’t wait to see what 2025 brings now.”
Changeable conditions at the Kent circuit presented challenges for the field.
Rollo started from 20th on the grid in race one but was boosted by a clever tyre choice, which saw him make a brilliant start in the pouring rain.
By the second lap, Rollo, who lives in Gifford, was up to second spot and went on to finish eighth on a drying track.
The second race saw him start 11th on the grid and he would finish 16th – good enough to secure not only another Pathway win but also be crowned Rookie of the Year with a race to spare.
Finally, he came home 13th in the final race of the year, which was good enough for not only main championship points but also his 25th Pathway class win in 32 races.
The INCompetition Sencat Aprilia Racing rider said: “It was a tricky round with mixed conditions all weekend at Brands.
“In the opening race, I managed to get an awesome start from 20th on the grid and was up to second early on, which was brilliant.
“I held my own for a few laps but dropped back to eighth and some more Championship points on the board.
“I got a good result in the second race and managed to tie up the Rookie Championship, which was another job well done.
“We struggled a bit in the dry conditions, but it was still good to win another Championship.
“I managed to get in the points for the final race of the year and it was a brilliant race to finish the year on.”
Ian Newton, team owner, was delighted with the success in their first season in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship.
He said: “To become Pathway and Rookie Champions is just amazing, Lewis really did excel this year in the Superbike class, not only winning what he has but to get as many Championship points as he did, a podium which was just unexpected, points in the main Championship and fighting with some very knowledgeable and experienced Superbikes teams.
“We are so proud of him.”
