YOUNG runners from throughout the country have taken part in the national primary and secondary schools road race.
The event took place at Pittencrieff Park in Dunfermline at the beginning of the month, with North Berwick High School pupils delivering exceptional performances in bringing home three individual medals.
In the S3/4 girls’ race, it was a closely contested battle between the North Berwick duo of Cerys Wright and Freya Brown.
It was Brown who pulled away on the last hill to take gold, with Wright close behind in silver.
Imogen Turner also looked in fine form, leading from gun to tape to take home the gold medal in the S2 girls’ race.
Innes Wright had a strong run to finish 11th in the S5/6 boys’ race.
In the S2 boys’ race, Blair Aitken and Archie Brown, both young in their age group, finished high up in the field, placing 11th and 13th respectively.
Turning to the younger age groups, it was a great turnout for North Berwick’s Law Primary School pupils, with a total of 15 runners over the P6 and P7 races.
Gregor Wright was an individual medal winner in the P7 boys.
He ran a great race, coming through strongly in the second half to win the silver medal.
The Law Primary School P7 girls raced to a brilliant team silver medal.
Eva Tandy, Etta Reid, Anna White and Kate Davies all finished in the top 40 in a race with 137 runners.
