THIRTEEN points from a possible 18 marked a good return for East Lothian’s football sides over the weekend.

Dunbar United, Haddington Athletic and Musselburgh Athletic were all toasting wins on Saturday before Tranent picked up a victory yesterday (Sunday).

Ormiston Primrose also picked up a point on Saturday.

The action began on Friday night when Preston Athletic travelled to Leith Athletic.

The hosts were 3-0 winners on the night, with Preston sitting 12th in the East of Scotland Football League (EoSFL) First Division.

On Saturday, in the top flight, East Lothian sides scored 14 goals on their way to victory.

The big winners were Haddington Athletic, who put inconsistencies aside to thump Luncarty 7-1.

Goals in the first 10 minutes from Grant Rose and Gary Windram set Haddington on their way to victory before a quickfire strikes from Luke Kennedy and Tom Davies made it 4-0 by the quarter-hour mark.

The visitors pulled one back five minutes after the restart but Haddington would add to their tally as Kennedy wrapped up his hat-trick before Rose scored 16 minutes from time.

Meanwhile, Dunbar United also had a comfortable advantage at the half time interval.

Strikes from Gregor Goldie and a double from Liam Gregory had the Seasiders on top at Edinburgh University.

Byron Archibald’s effort in the second half ensured Dunbar were 4-0 winners on the day.

Musselburgh remain in the hunt at the top of the table after victory in St Andrews.

Gabri Auriemma’s effort just before the half hour was all that separated the sides at the break.

Auriemma was again on target early in the second half before the hosts managed to pull one back.

However, Auriemma would wrap up his hat-trick to ensure the Honest Toun side remain a point behind leaders Jeanfield Swifts.

Ormiston Primrose had to do it the hard way to get a point at Fauldhouse United.

They trailed at the break in West Lothian but an own goal just seconds into the second half meant the spoils were shared.

Then, on Sunday, Tranent were 3-0 winners away to Broomhill.

Substitute Guy McGarry scored a second half double before Rob McIntyre headed home in the closing stages.

This weekend brings a mix of cup and league action for the county sides.

Tranent are once again away from home as they travel to Petershill in the Scottish Junior Cup.

Haddington Athletic host Tynecastle in the top flight of the EoSFL while Dunbar United welcome Bonnyrigg Rose in the first round of the East of Scotland Cup.

Finally, Ormiston Primrose are at home to Lochgelly Albert in the Third Division.
