SCOTLAND gents’ and ladies’ squads claimed all the top spots at the British Bowls Under-25 International Series at Belmont BC (Ireland) at the weekend, writes Matt Osborne.
East Lothian were well represented, with Logan Kennedy, Dean Riva, Beth Riva and Emma Blyth all contributing to rink wins over the weekend.
An opening victory against home side Ireland for both gents’ and ladies’ teams (72-63 and 65-46) had both sides off to a flyer.
They then repeated the performance in the second fixture against Wales (58-48 and 71-58).
Finally, they entered the Sunday showdown against England, knowing that an overall win would see them claim victory overall.
The junior squads duly delivered an excellent performance against the Auld Enemy (75-57 and 75-42) and had Scotland top of the tables in the individual disciplines and the overall standings.
The gents finished ahead of Wales with a flawless record, while the ladies were top of the table with a similar perfect record ahead of England.
Meanwhile, East Lothian clubs have crowned their respective club champions for 2024; many are pictured here. Congratulations to all!
