TRANENT made it a hat-trick of ELB League Cups as trophies were presented over the weekend, writes Matt Osborne.
The club made it three years in a row as they claimed the Division One Cup at Macmerry.
A narrow 4-2 win over Prestongrange saw them line up against Ormiston for the second time this season in a knockout final.
Incredibly, they were separated by just a single shot in the County Cup earlier in the season.
This time around, Tranent held a two-shot lead entering the last end and triumphed by the same single-shot margin.
Castlepark doubled up their promotion celebrations with the Division Two League Cup as they triumphed against Prestongrange A and Port Seton A at East Linton.
Although they have been relegated, Prestongrange B ended their season on a high as they claimed the Division Three cup with wins over Port Seton B and Longniddry.
Division Four title winners Gullane completed the league/cup double as they saw off Macmerry A and Tranent B at Dunbar.
Elsewhere, play in both the gents’ and ladies’ champion of champions continues today (Friday) as the quarter-finals take place.
The ties are scheduled for a 6pm start: Michael Faulds v John McCrorie at Ormiston BC; Craig McLeod v Gordon White at East Linton BC; Jock Mclean v Sam Gray at West Barns BC; and North Berwick v Luke Newlands at Haddington BC.
In the ladies’ championships, they line-up as follows: Emily Johnston v Jackie Fraser at Haddington BC; Jennifer Newlands v Lauren Baillie-Whyte at West Barns BC; Linda Wilson v Beth Riva at East Linton BC; North Berwick v Dee Hoggan at Ormiston BC.
The winners will progress to the semi-finals and final on Sunday at Macmerry, with a noon start.
Finally, Saturday sees the four league winners across the East Lothian leagues meet in the annual East Lothian Courier-sponsored Courier Cup.
Competing are Division 1 winners Port Seton, Division 2 winners Elphinstone, Division 3 winners East Linton A and Division 4 winners Gullane.
The four sides will play a semi final at EL Co-op this Saturday at 11am, with the two winners progressing to the 2pm final in the battle of the league champions.
