THE first full fixture card of the season has half of East Lothian’s rugby sides at home on Saturday.
Musselburgh, Preston Lodge and North Berwick began the 2024/25 campaign over the weekend and will now be joined by Haddington, Ross High and Dunbar, who all play in the East Region.
On Saturday, Musselburgh welcome Kelso to Stoneyhill in search of their first points of the season.
Musselburgh lost out at Glasgow Hawks, while Kelso defeated Watsonian.
Last season, the two clubs drew 31-31 on the opening day of the campaign, while Kelso were 45-12 winners in the Borders.
Meanwhile, Preston Lodge host Gordonians in National League Division Two.
The Pennypit side gained promotion back to the third tier last term and will be looking to start their new league season with a win.
Gordonians finished fifth in National League Division Two with eight wins and 10 defeats.
North Berwick head west in National League Division Four as they begin the season with a trip to Whitecraigs.
Two places separated the two sides in the table at the end of the campaign, although Whitecraigs picked up 25 more points.
Whitecraigs did the double last year, winning the same fixture 53-14 having won 55-24 at Recreation Park in September.
Meanwhile, Haddington and Ross High will be out to mount a promotion challenge in East Region League Division One.
Haddington had started last season well but their form tailed off after the turn of the year.
They travel to Forrester, who won 26-14 at Neilson Park in January, having lost 28-20 to Haddington earlier in the campaign.
Ross High return to the regional leagues after a difficult season in National League Division Four.
They get their campaign started with a home contest against Dalkeith, who were promoted from National League Division Two after edging out Dunbar.
Meanwhile, the Hallhill club will be looking to go one better after finishing up as runners up to Dalkeith last term.
They travel to Trinity Academicals, who gained promotion from East Region League Division Three on points difference ahead of Edinburgh Northern.
