CHAMPION Lewis Rollo is targeting a double celebration after clinching a prize at the top tier of British motorbike racing.
The county racer stepped up to Bennetts British Superbikes at the start of the season and has enjoyed a campaign to remember.
Over the weekend at Cadwell Park, Rollo wrapped up the Pathway Riders class and now holds an unassailable lead over Alex Olsen.
Nine races remain before the chequered flag is waved on the season and Rollo is in pole position to take top spot in the R&G newcomers classification as well.
Speaking to Courier Sport on Tuesday morning, he said: “Winning the Pathway Riders class is what we entered the championship for.
“Obviously, we entered the championships at the start of the year and nobody knew what to expect or what we were capable of in this class.
“We knew it was going to be a challenge and there are a couple of good boys in it.
“To come away winning it is a bonus.”
Now Rollo, who lives in Gifford, has set his sights on an impressive end to the campaign.
Among the targets is the R&G newcomers category, where he holds an 80-point lead over Brayden Elliott with 162 points still up for grabs.
Earlier in the season, former Knox Academy pupil Rollo celebrated a memorable podium finish in the main category at Snetterton.
And he was determined to ensure that the season did not fizzle out over the remaining three rounds.
He said: “I know they are just little championships but there are still really top-quality riders.
“If we can come away with both of them and secure points in the full class, we will have achieved quite a lot this year.
“The podium was just a different level.”

Rollo also revealed how his impressive performances throughout the season had seen him re-evaluate his targets.
In the main class of the Bennetts British Superbikes, the first 15 riders all score points.
Rollo, who recorded his fastest ever time round the Lincolnshire circuit, could only manage 18th position in all three races over the bank holiday weekend.
He said: “At Cadwell, I was a wee bit disappointed not to score points, having managed to do that every round apart from Navarra [and Oulton Park] at the start of the year.
“I spoke to a few of the commentators and top guys in the paddock and they were saying finishing 18th is not a bad result – it is just we have had such good results at others that you are disappointed.”
Next month (September), attention turns to a return to Oulton Park.
Rollo and his INCompetition Sencat Aprilia team enjoyed their visit to the Cheshire track back in May, when he took maximum points in both the Pathway Riders class and also the R&G Newcomers class.
Positive results over the September 14 and 15 weekend could be enough to see Rollo celebrating another title triumph.
