PORT Seton etched their name on the Jubilee Cup following their 8-0 win over Haddington in Sunday’s finale, reports Matt Osborne.

Initially pushed all the way by Prestongrange in the morning semi-final, Port Seton eventually advanced by just two shots following a 4-4 draw.

Haddington progressed to the final with a 5-3 semi-final win over West Barns.

The two finalists met at Gifford and it was quickly advantage Port Seton.

Derek Oliver delivered the first two points in the crucial singles match.

Port Seton claimed the second two points in the pairs as Michael Greenan and Graeme Archer delivered a 14-11 win.

Haddington knew that they would require two sizeable wins in both the triples and fours to lift the trophy.

The triples were tied 12-12 with four ends to play and Port Seton held a 12-9 lead in the fours with just five ends left.

Logan Kennedy, Scott Kennedy and Steven Morgan won the triples battle 17-14, while Jamie Gordon, Gordon Baillie, Steven Thomson and Craig Valentine completed the final with a 20-9 win in the fours.

The squad will represent East Lothian in the national top 10 next season.
