ADON Davie is aiming to be on pole position when it comes to the race for the British Super Sport Cup.

This weekend, competitors travel to Thruxton in Hampshire for two races which could turn the title battle on its head.

Davie, from Prestonpans, trails Cameron Hall by eight points, having led the way up until the last meeting at Brands Hatch.

But with 10 races still to take place, there will surely be twists and turns along the way to the chequered flag.

The county racer said: “We have had a mid-season assessment of things and we have come up with an action plan for the rest of the year.

“You can look at it in different ways.

“When I was leading the championship, they had to chase me.

“Now, I have flipped it on its head and the pressure is on Cameron Hall to stay top.

“I need to keep beating him, which I have done at most of the rounds.

“I am feeling confident.”

The teenager has every right to feel confident after not finishing below third in any of the races he has completed.

Those finishes have included five victories along the way.

However, a non-finish at Donington Park and in the second race at Brands Hatch has opened the door to Hall on his Kawasaki.

Davie said: “I think at every round this year there has been some sort of adversity to overcome in the build-up.

“We are ahead of the game just now in terms of the bike.

“We need to put it in the van but there is nothing we need to do or nothing we need to fix on Thursday, which will help us set the weekend up to get off on the right foot.

“Even though there has been something at every round, we have managed to pull results out of the bag but I’m getting a bit annoyed at the extenuating circumstances.”

The 2.3-mile circuit at Thruxton, which was part of RAF Thruxton in the Second World War, is not the most familiar for Davie and his Ducati team.

He has only raced there once, last season, when he took a pair of podium places on his way to finishing fourth in the championship.

Now, Davie, who spoke to Courier Sport on Tuesday afternoon, is determined to get back on the podium and re-establish his lead at the top of the standings.

He added: “Thruxton seems to suit the bike.

“It is just making sure we get the right set up.”

Races take place on Saturday and Sunday but 19-year-old Davie is already on his way to the circuit.

From his home in Prestonpans to the track on England’s south coast is just over 400 miles.

Davie said: “I looked at it and Thruxton is closer to Paris than it is Prestonpans!

“We leave on Wednesday night instead of Thursday morning and need to be there to set up and get the garage set up on Thursday.

“Travelling down will be me and my dad, Alan, in the van.

“He will come home from work on Wednesday night and then we pretty much jump in the van and go to Thruxton to meet the team.”
