TWO wins, two draws and two defeats was how East Lothian’s football sides kicked off the new season.
Tranent began their third season in the Scottish Lowland Football League (SLFL) with a trip to Cowdenbeath.
Summer signing Danny Handling gave Ian Little’s men the perfect start but the scores were level at the break thanks to Aiden McLaughlin’s equaliser.

However, there would be one last twist when former Tranent man Jamie Docherty netted from the penalty spot.
In the top flight of the East of Scotland Football League (EoSFL), there were victories for both Musselburgh Athletic and Haddington Athletic, while Dunbar United picked up a point on the opening day.

Jordan Smith netted the Honest Toun team’s first goal of the season on 14 minutes and they held the narrow advantage into the break.
Smith doubled the lead 12 minutes after the restart after Jonny Court had been brought down in the box.
That was how the score stayed until the closing stages when Zach Khan and Oban Anderson scored in the final five minutes.
Haddington put in a five-star performance at home to Glenrothes but had to do it the hard way.
Nick Aitchison had given the county side the lead but strikes from Jay Bridgeford and Colin Wilson had Glenrothes in front at the interval.

Grant Rose then added number five with just a few minutes left.
At New Countess Park, Dunbar United took the lead just before the half time break thanks to Dean Whitson.
However, Hutchison Vale found a leveller 12 minutes from time thanks to Ricky Miller.

A trialist put them 4-2 up before Brad Donaldson pulled one back for Preston on the full time whistle.
Finally, Ormiston Primrose went down to a narrow defeat against Stoneyburn Juniors.
A first half diving header from Ross Mackay was all that separated the two sides over 90 minutes in the Third Division.
