A DOUBLE medal winner has been recognised in the Scottish Parliament for his efforts in the swimming pool.
Stefan Krawiec, of Prestonpans, was part of the British team that travelled to Lithuania earlier this month for the European Junior Swimming Championships.
The 18-year-old, who began swimming with Tranent Amateur Swimming Club and previously lived in Tranent, competed in three relays, as well as in the 100m and 200m freestyle.
In the shorter distance, he finished seventh in his heat before finishing ninth in his heat for the 200m.
The British quartet then won their heat in the 4x100m freestyle before going on to claim bronze behind Italy and France in the final.
The East Lothian Swim Team (ELST) member also competed in the 4x100m freestyle mixed relay team, which reached the final but came home in fourth spot.
Krawiec was also part of the team that finished second in their heat in the 4x100m men’s individual medley relay and cheered them on to bronze in the final.

The success was recognised at Holyrood by Craig Hoy, South Scotland MSP, through a motion backed by more than a dozen fellow MSPs.
It reads: “That the Parliament congratulates Stefan Krawiec on his recent success at the European Junior Swimming Championships, winning two bronze medals; recognises the immense commitment involved in competing at an international level, particularly being a junior event; believes that it is important to promote active lifestyles for children and young adults, given the physical and mental benefits; acknowledges the role that clubs, communities, and families play in nurturing young talent, and commits to helping youth swimming teams in any way that it can.”
Krawiec, who attended Ross High School in Tranent and is now studying for an HND in health, sport and fitness at Edinburgh College, was joined in the British squad by former ELST member Luke Hornsey (University of Edinburgh).
