A TEAM of 23 athletes from East Lothian Swim Team (ELST) travelled south of the Border for a special competition.
The Sunderland Summer Splash meet took place earlier this month and represented the final race of the season for many of the swimmers, as well as a valuable opportunity to race outwith Scotland.
The team returned with 14 medals, with excellent performances throughout.

Olivia Flockhart (Musselburgh) earned silver in 200m backstroke and bronze in the 200m breaststroke.
Niamh Wellwood (Haddington) came home with silver in the 1,500m freestyle, while Imogen Turner (Musselburgh) won bronze in the 100m backstroke and Ellen Cuthill (Tranent) earned fifth-placed finishes in the 50m and 200m breaststroke.
For the males, Liam Warner (Haddington) claimed gold in the 200m breaststroke while Jonathan McLean took home bronze medals for the 50m, 100m and 200m butterfly, 100m freestyle and 200m backstroke.
Andrew Ward, ELST development team coach, was pleased with the efforts of the squad.
He said: “The Sunderland Summer Splash is always a popular meet with our swimmers and a great opportunity for them to test themselves against top swimmers from south of the Border.
“The hard work they have put in throughout the year was on display with strong performances, personal-best times and plenty of medals.
“A wonderful event to round out the season.”
