THE curtain came down on Scotland’s Six Nations Summer Series with defeat against Ireland.
Scotland had been edged out by Italy at the beginning of the month before going down to France last Tuesday.
In the searing heat in Parma, Scotland lost out by six tries to one.
Ireland were 13-0 up after half an hour, with Scotland’s best chance involving North Berwick’s Poppy Fletcher.
Substitute Hannah Ramsay was able to split through the wall of green, offloading into contact to co-captain Fletcher, who came within metres of the try line.
Scotland’s try-scorer against France, Gemma Bell, looked to go for the try, leaping over the top but the referee deemed she had been held up.
Instead, Scotland would get on the scoreboard through Lucia Scott, with Lucy MacRae successful with the conversion. However, Ireland proved too strong and won 37-7.
