MUSSELBURGH Athletic lifted the John McLay Memorial Trophy with a 4-1 win at Gala Fairydean Rovers over the weekend.
Pre-season preparations are well under way, with each of the county’s six senior teams having been in action.
Musselburgh travelled to Netherdale and opened the scoring against their Scottish Lowland Football League (SLFL) opposition through Jordan Smith.
A trialist doubled their lead before the break and Jackson Barker made it 3-0 with 20 minutes left to play. Nicky Reid scored three minutes later before the hosts managed to pull one back with 10 minute to go.
Musselburgh also faced a Falkirk XI on Tuesday, Barker scoring in a 2-1 defeat.
Tranent enjoyed a high-scoring contest with Pollok on Saturday afternoon.
Summer signing Danny Handling scored after just four minutes before the opposition from the west of Scotland levelled four minutes later.
Cammie Ross had Tranent in front from the penalty spot but the scores were level at 2-2 at the interval.
Pollok were 5-2 up by the 64th minute before Scott Gray narrowed the deficit for the Foresters Park side.
Tranent and Bonnyrigg Rose then battled out a goalless draw on Tuesday evening.
Meanwhile, Haddington Athletic lost at home to Neilston.
The West of Scotland Football League Second Division side scored twice in the first half, thanks to goals from a trialist and Dylan Fletcher.
Haddington pushed to get back into the game but failed to find a way through.
Dunbar United were also in action as they travelled to former SPFL stalwarts Berwick Rangers to contest the Paul Hampshire Memorial Trophy.
Veteran striker Liam Buchanan opened the scoring from the penalty spot for the hosts before Dunbar equalised a minute before half-time.
Last season’s top scorer Taylor Hendry squeezed the ball home and the game was turned on its head when Dean Whitson headed home after the restart.
Berwick equalised through a trialist and Buchanan sealed the hosts’ victory with little over 15 minutes left.
Brandon Archibald scored for Dunbar on Tuesday against a Hibernian XI, with the Capital club winning 2-1.
Preston Athletic continued their pre-season preparations by welcoming Lochgelly Albert to the Pennypit.
It looked straightforward for the county side when a Dean Ballantyne treble had them 3-0 up.
However, the East of Scotland Football League Third Division outfit fought back to ensure the game finished 3-2.
Strikes from Cami Laidlaw and Lewis Inglis gave Preston a 2-0 midweek win over a Hamilton Academicals XI.
Finally, Ormiston Primrose let slip a 2-0 lead as they went down 3-2 to amateur side Pentland Athletic.
