NORTH Berwick High School and Dunbar Grammar School students brought back medals from the Scottish Schools’ Athletics Championships in Grangemouth at the weekend.

Four athletes were competing for North Berwick High School.

Freya Brown was racing in the under-15 girls’ 800m and, after a very tough qualification on the Friday, she made it through to the final.

She ran a fantastic race to take the silver medal in 2m17s in what was a highly competitive field.

Cerys Wright and Imogen Turner were competing in the 1,500m, also in the under-15 girls’ group.

Both had to qualify for the final, which they did by each winning their heat. In the final, Wright ran a fast 4m44.92s in the blustery conditions to take the gold, with Turner, who is still young in the age group, taking a brilliant silver in another great time of 4m50.42s.

Innes Wright was racing in the under-20 boys’ 1,500m final.

It was a tough, tactical race, with Wright finishing in eighth in a time of 4m15.09s.

Dunbar Grammar School pupil Aidan Page competed in the boys’ under-20s 800m.

His brother Jake was competing in the under-17 boys’ 1,500m, still young in the age group; in a tough race, he finished eighth in his heat in a time of 4m37.97s.

Also from Dunbar, Thomas Gornall was competing in the under-17 boys’ 3,000m, where he finished 16th in time of 10m04.34s.
