EAST Lothian athletes have taken to the track to win a number of gold medals.
Several county athletes were competing at the East of Scotland age group athletics championships at Grangemouth last weekend.
The event attracted athletes from as far north as Aberdeen down to Galashiels.
Branna Kenny, of Haddington Athletics Club, was first up in the under-13 girls’ 70m hurdles.
She won gold in a very closely contested race by just one-hundredth of a second in a fast time of 12.70s.
Archie Brown, a pupil of Law Primary School in North Berwick who competes for Lasswade Athletics Club, was taking part in three events in the under-13 boys.
He dominated all his events, winning gold medals in the 100m, 200m and long jump.
He ran personal bests of 13.40s and 27.15s respectively, and a long jump personal best of 4.94m.
His sister Freya Brown, a pupil at North Berwick High School who also competes for Lasswade Athletics Club, was competing in the under-15 girls’ 1,500m.
In a very competitive final, she sprinted away in the last 200m to win gold, taking 20 seconds off her personal best to finish in 4m38s.
Cerys Wright, also of North Berwick High School, was competing in the U15 girls’ 800m.
She ran a very brave race from the front, just being pipped for gold by hundredths of a second.
She came away with a personal best of 2m16s and the silver medal.
A spokesperson for Team East Lothian said: “This was a great start to the track season with national events coming up later in the summer.”
