LUKE Hornsey and Stefan Krawiec will fly the flag for Team GB at the European Junior Swimming Championships this summer.
The East Lothian duo are part of the 29-strong squad who will be heading to Lithuania.
The competition, which runs from July 2 to 7, showcases the best talent in the pool from across the continent born 2006-2010.
It has consistently provided a launchpad for athletes heading towards the sport’s senior European and global stages.
Strong performances in both the 2022 and 2023 editions saw the Aquatics GB teams take home 11 medals on each occasion, with this year’s squad aiming for more of the same in Vilnius.
Hornsey was previously a member of East Lothian Swim Team (ELST) and now represents Edinburgh University, while Krawiec continues to represent ELST.
Looking ahead to the international event, Alan Lynn, Aquatics GB head of performance development, said: “The European Junior Championships play a crucial role in the development pathway for our young athletes on their trajectory to senior teams and potential future successes at the pinnacle of the sport – and that means it is always a hugely exciting thing to be able to take teams as strong and versatile as this one to the event.
“We saw some brilliant performances from these swimmers at the recent Aquatics GB Swimming Championships, notable both because of the quality they showed in the arena and also how they delivered in front of packed crowds and such an intense competition environment – something that will stand them in good stead for future events.”
