EAST Lothian Swim Team (ELST) – made up of swimmers from Haddington, Musselburgh and Tranent swim clubs – took home an impressive 39 individual medals at the second round of the East District Championships (EDAGs), held at the Royal Commonwealth Pool in Edinburgh over the weekend of February 3-4.
The latest round of the championships covers events over 50m and 200m.
The winners from ELST were as follows:

Tranent’s Zara Krawiec won an incredible seven individual gold medals in the 15-year-old age group, breaking four ELST individual records in the process. She achieved a clean sweep across the 50m distance, along with gold in the 200m butterfly, freestyle and backstroke;

There were also gold medals for Connor Aspinall (Haddington) and Stefan Krawiec (Tranent) in the 200m freestyle, and Ross Anderton (Tranent) in the 200m butterfly;

Ismail Shalaby (Tranent) also broke several ELST individual records on the way to winning silver in the 200m backstroke and bronze in the 50m butterfly, freestyle and backstroke;

Eilidh Fee (Tranent) won silver in the 50m and 200m backstroke, along with bronze in the 50m butterfly and freestyle;

Anna Lawson (Musselburgh) won silver in the 50m butterfly and freestyle, and a bronze in the 50m breaststroke.

Lucy Hall (Haddington) achieved bronze in the 200m butterfly, freestyle and breaststroke.

There was also medal success for Musselburgh’s Kate Nolan, Ross Winters, Roni Kariuki and Zach Slater, Haddington’s Lewis Lothian and Boyd Fearnside, and Tranent’s Tegan Black and Grace Hanak.
Jamie Ward, ELST head coach, congratulated the swimmers on their success at the event.
He said: “It was great to get our long course racing off to a strong start at EDAGs round two.
“This event was a great opportunity for our younger swimmers to experience long course racing for the first time.
“The results were very pleasing at such an early stage in the year.”
