A LONGNIDDRY golfer is jetting off to South Africa to represent Scotland after finishing top of the Scottish Men’s Amateur Order of Merit.
James Morgan, of Longniddry Golf Club, finished top of the tree in his breakthrough season which saw him claim two wins in the Tennant Cup and Cameron Corbett Vase, as well as good showings in Scottish Amateur Championship and the East of Scotland at Lundin Links.
He finished the season with 555 points to top the standings ahead of Blairgowrie’s Connor Graham, who picked up 540 points. The Roxburghe’s Jack McDonald finished third on 485 points.
Oliver Mukherjee from Gullane and Benn Mcleod from Musselburgh were the only other East Lothian representatives in the top 20.
Morgan now gets ready to head out to South Africa with the Men’s High Performance squad this month, where he will be joined by Mukherjee and Angus Carrick from Craigielaw.
