East Lothian Swim Team (ELST) travelled north over the weekend to compete in the North District Open Championships held at the Aberdeen Aquatics Centre.
This meet attracted some of the best swimmers from across the country.
Being an open championship, swimmers competed against each other regardless of age and thus medalling or qualifying for a final was a significant achievement.
ELST medal winners were:
- Stefan Krawiec won a silver in the 200m freestyle;
- Zara Krawiec won a bronze in the 200m individual medley (IM);
- Calum Peebles won a bronze in the 400m IM.
In addition, Tegan Black, Grace Hanak, Declan Kay, Anna Lawson and Zach Slater also made finals over the weekend.
Jamie Ward, ELST head coach, was delighted with all the swimmers’ efforts.
He said: “At this point in the year, we are focusing on process over performance and making sure our swimmers develop the skills needed to have a successful season.
“So to have such a successful meet is a pleasant surprise and bodes well for the group as we develop through the season.”
