DOUBLE medallist Maria Lyle is in the running for another prize after an impressive showing at the World Para Athletics Championships.
The Dunbar sprinter is one of five athletes up for the Athletes’ Athlete of the Month award, facilitated by the British Elite Athletes Association.
Athletes on the World Class Programme will vote for their winner from Lyle, wheelchair fencer Piers Gilliver, swimmer Matt Richards and the joint pair of Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix and Lois Toulson (diving).
Lyle returned from Paris with bronze medals in both the T35 100m and 200m.
The success came on the back of her having foot surgery last year.

Lyle, who has spastic diplegic cerebral palsy, previously told Courier Sport of the importance of having the right mix of people round about her.
She said: “I was not really running the quickest of times this season and that is why I was not feeling the most confident, if I am honest.
“I just really relied on those around me – friends, family, people in the team – to believe in me when I was not feeling the best and to get me across the line.
“It has been a tough nearly two years.
“If I am honest, I am glad it is done and can get on with next year and hopefully get a good winter in and be in a better position for next season and coming into the Paralympics.
“It is really important having good people around you.”
A winner will be announced on the British Elite Athletes Association’s social media account.
