A COMPETITION which dates back nearly 100 years has been contested at North Berwick West Links.
The final of this year’s Esmond Trophy was played in high winds on Sunday, July 16.
More than 180 East Lothian golfers played in a qualifying event at the beginning of the month and, after two weeks of matchplay golf, Keith Watkins (Gifford) won the trophy with a 3&2 triumph over Alastair Robson (North Berwick and Bass Rock).
The prizes were presented by the Baroness Isabelle de Waldner, whose grandfather, Edward Esmond, presented the trophy to Bass Rock Golf Club in 1926.
