MARIA Lyle begins the defence of her World Para Athletics Championship 100m crown this morning (Monday).
The sprinter is competing in the T35 event in Paris with the first heat getting under way at 11.20am local time.
Lyle, who won the title in Dubai, is in the first heat alongside China’s Qianqian Guo, Kazakhstan’s Saltanat Abilkhassymkyzy, Germany’s Isabelle Foerder, Sweden’s Ellen Westling and Poland’s Ingrid Renecka.

The final is due to take place later today at about 8.40pm local time.
Lyle, of Dunbar, has already clinched a bronze at the championships in the 200m.
