THE 4J Studios East District Championships are one of the main fixtures for club athletes in the early track season.
The representation from Team East Lothian (TEL) across the age groups was impressive, with many being rewarded by those sought-after personal bests (PB), as well as podium places.
Aoife Swan-Ashe, competing in the under-15 girls’ events, had a busy schedule spread over the two days, competing in both the 100m and 200m.
Not only did she make the finals in both events but she won gold in each, running times of 12.76s (PB) and 26.17s (PB) respectively.
Another medallist from day one of the event was Morven Kenny with an excellent silver in the under-13 girls’ 70m hurdles with a time of 13.69s.
The youngster also won silver in the long jump with a jump of 3.98m.
Not finished for the day, she also ran very well in the 800m, running 2m36s for a fourth-place finish.
Also having a great race in the 800m was Josh Cooper in the under-13 boys’, with a PB performance of 2m30.42s earning him a silver medal position on the podium.
Fraser Lupton won a hard-fought silver in the under-17 men’s 800m with a superb time of 1m58.88s.
Ross Dargo won gold in the under-15 boys’ long jump with a jump of 4.56m, while Magnus Lawson won silver in the under-17 men’s 1,500m steeplechase, setting a PB of 5m11.05s.
In the under-15 girls’ 1,500m, Cerys Wright had a very strong run to win the silver medal with a time of 4m47.57s.
Also going well in the 1,500m was Ronnie Brown, winning a bronze medal with a time of 4m00.15s.
Successfully navigating heats and making it through to the finals from Team East Lothian were: Ross Dargo, under-15 boys’ 200m (seventh); Isaac Stevenson, under-17 men’s 400m (fifth); Jake Page, under-15 boys’ 800m (fifth); Thomas Gornall, under-15 boys’ 800m (eighth); Freya Brown, under-15 girls’ 800m (10th); Howie Allison, under-15 boys’ 1,500m (fourth); Joe Smith, under-15 boys’ 1,500m (eighth); Innes Wright, under-17 men’s 1,500m (eighth); and Fraser Lupton under-17 men’s 1,500m (seventh).
