SAM Downie made history in the pool after setting a new record in Germany.
The East Lothian Swim Team member was part of the British team taking part in the 2023 Citi Para Swimming World Series leg in Berlin.
Downie, who has caudal regression syndrome, a condition that mainly affects his back and the lower half of the body, was competing in the 200m backstroke.
He grasped Men’s MC 200m backstroke open bronze and set a British record time of 2.30.83.
That took a tenth of a second off the previous mark set 12 years earlier.
