JAKE Page took a place on the podium as the first challenge in the Scottish Hill Running calendar for junior athletes took place at Dumyat, near Stirling.
The event, which took place last month, was hosted by a team from Shettleston Harriers.
Haddington Running Club and Team East Lothian had athletes tackle the elevation challenge.
Gregor Wright, from Haddington, took part in the under-11s race, which was a 2.1km route with an elevation of 80m in exposed moorland.
The youngster stormed down the hill into a fantastic fourth position.
Jake Page and Flora Lawson, both from Team East Lothian (TEL), tackled the combined under-13/under-15 race.

Their distance was 3km and with a challenging elevation of 105 metres.
Both did extremely well in the race – in his first hill race, Page took to the conditions well, and came flying down to the finish to claim second place.
Lawson showed her endurance strength to finish in an excellent fifth place in the under-15 girls’ category.
Magnus Lawson, from TEL, was in the longest and highest of the junior races – with a 5.2km route taking in a climb of 240 metres.
At age 14, Lawson was one of the younger runners in the under-17/under-20 race, but had a very strong run to finish in fourth place in the under-17 boys’ category.
It was a fun race to kick off the Junior Hill Running League, with top places receiving prizes and every runner getting plenty of encouragement to continue their hill running journey.
Meanwhile, the Scottish Schools Primary Cross Country Championships were held at Kirkcaldy High School last month.
Josh Cooper, from Team East Lothian (TEL), represented Law Primary School and had a brilliant race to finish in second place in the primary seven boys’ race, just two seconds behind the winner.
Imogen Turner, from Stoneyhill Primary School, who is in the process of joining TEL, finished in a fantastic first place in the primary seven girls’ race.
Elsewhere, the Scottish Student Athletics Championships took place at Grangemouth Stadium on the same day.
Laura Buchan, from Team East Lothian, and representing the University of Edinburgh, had a fantastic competition.
She took part in both the triple jump and the long jump.
It was a hard day’s work but winter training paid off, with Buchan leaping into bronze in the triple jump with a 10.66m jump and she was also near the top of the leaderboard in the long jump with a mark of 5.10m.
Finally, the track season kicked off with the Forth Valley League in Livingston on April 23, with athletes from Haddington, Musselburgh and Dunbar taking part in the busy track and field event.
The competition, that runs over the summer, is for athletes under 15 years old.
Musselburgh athletes are in Division One, which took place in the morning, with Haddington and Dunbar in Division Two, in the afternoon session.
Musselburgh had some excellent performances, including Murray Johnstone, who was first to win his heat, clocking 15.8s in the under-11 boys’ 100m.
Also claiming first place in the 100m heats were Aaron Mitchell and Ross Dargo with times of 12.7s and 13.3s respectively.
There were some strong runs in the 800m, with Murray Johnstone running 2m51s for second place in the under-11 boys’ event.

In the under-13 girls’ 800m, both heats were won by Musselburgh athletes.
Imogen Turner ran 2m37s in heat A and Ava Rose-Curtis ran 2m45s in heat B.
In the under-13 boys, Tom Ibbs claimed second place, running 2m36s for the distance.
The efforts continued on the field, with some strong results in the jumps and throws.
In the under-13 boys’ high jump, Frank Orsi jumped 1m20cm to come second in heat A, with Dylan Duffy first in heat B with a jump of 1m15cm.
In the under-11 boys’ long jump, Torin Kleboe took first place in heat B with a jump of 3m16cm.
Grace Ryan placed second in heat A for the under-15 girls’ shot putt, with a throw of 6m32cm. Aaron Mitchell was also second in the under-15 boys’ shot putt with a throw of 7m78cm, while Ben Anderson was first in heat B with a throw of 7m47cm.
Ross Dargo finished the morning session coming second in heat B in the under-15 boys’ javelin with a throw of 13m80cm.
Momentum continued in the afternoon session with some great performances from Haddington and Dunbar athletes.
Branna Kenny (Haddington) was first in the under-13 girls’ 60m hurdles, with a time of 14.9s, while Archie Brown, also from Haddington, was first in the under-13 boys’ 100m sprint in 14.6s.
There were more winners in the 800m with two first places in the under-11 boys’ category: Gregor Wright, from Haddington, won heat A in a time of 2m45 ,and Adam Connolly, from Dunbar, won heat B in 2m48s.
Florence Bailey, from Haddington, was first in heat A in the under-13 girls’ race in 2m54s.
In the under-13 boys’, Archie Brown, from Haddington, was second in 2m40s in heat A, while Theo Ball, also from Haddington, was second with 2m57s.
The winning streak continued in the 800m with Cerys Brown, from Haddington, first in heat A for under-15 girls in 2m22s, and Freya Brown comfortably winning heat B in 2m33s.
The under-15 boys also did well in the shot putt, with Ben Krievs, from Dunbar, throwing furthest, with 7m17cm in heat A, and William Nathan, from Haddington, placing first in heat B with a throw of 5m1cm.
Adam Connolly was second in under-11 boys’ long jump heat A with a jump of 2m91cm.
