THE young swimmers of Tranent Amateur Swimming Club (TASC) were celebrating earlier this month as they emerged victorious in the annual Coverdale tournament.
The Coverdale tournament is aimed at providing competitive opportunities for new swimmers and is contested by clubs from Tranent, Haddington, Musselburgh and Portobello.
Tranent swimmers held the advantage going into the final round, with victories in the first and second round followed by a second-place finish in round three.
The final round was due to take place at the Loch Centre in Tranent on March 10; however, it was relocated to the Mercat Gait Centre in Prestonpans due to the closure of the Loch Centre swimming pool, allowing more opportunity for spectators to witness the finale.
Swimmers from all four clubs made it an exciting occasion, with the clubs battling it out for final points.
At the end of the evening, it was Tranent who were victorious in the round and overall to take home the trophy.
Julia Taylor, TASC head coach, commented on the victory: “I am so proud of all Tranent swimmers who took part in all four rounds.
“The noise from the cheering is like no other competition!
“To come away the winners again is definitely a great reward for all the effort from the whole team.”
