YOUNG surfers are counting down to a national event this spring.
Belhaven Surf Club, which was established in April last year, is among those which will be represented at Pease Bay in April during the Junior Nationals.
The club enjoyed a successful first season in the Scottish Surfing Federation’s junior series, which ran from April to October.
The series visited Tiree, Thurso, Pease Bay and Fraserburgh before concluding at Sandend.
Thirteen-year-old Ansel Parkin, from Dunbar, won the under-14 and under-16 series categories, while North Berwick’s Rudi Johnston-Forrest won the under-12 category.
Other club members on the podium for the series included Tam Hood, from North Berwick, who came second in the under-14s and third in the under-16s category, while Dunbar’s Ebon Parkin was third in the under-18s and fourth in the under-16s.
Other team members making the podium included Charlie Pugh, Alfie Pugh, Freya Pilarska and Rosie Moore.
Sam Christopherson, of Coast to Coast Surf Club, was looking forward to another successful season, including the event at Pease Bay on April 22 and 23.
He said: “I’m so proud of each and every one of the team.
“Every single member has really progressed since the club was formed and their dedication is really paying off.”
