MUSSELBURGH snooker star Ross Muir will line up alongside the world’s best at the German Masters in the New Year.
The 27-year-old was a late call-up to the first stage of the event after seven-time world champion Ronnie O’Sullivan pulled out. Muir took full advantage of the opportunity and travelled down to Leicester’s Morningside Arena at the end of last week.
He faced off against Oliver Brown – who earlier in November had knocked him out of the qualifying for the UK Championship – and came through 5-1 against the world number 110.
That set up a tie with world number 42 Liam Highfield in the third round.
Muir led 3-1 and 4-2 and got over the line after a tense eighth frame.
He will now play China’s Pang Junxu in Berlin for a spot in the last 16 of the tournament.
