ONLY one world title looks set to be on the line if Josh Taylor steps back into the ring with Jack Catterall.
An eagerly awaited rematch between the two super-lightweight fighters is expected to take place later this year.
Taylor took a controversial split decision victory over the previously unbeaten Catterall in February.
At that time, Taylor was undisputed champion and his WBC, WBA, IBF and WBO belts were all on the line.
However, the Prestonpans fighter has had to vacate three of those titles since then, leaving just the WBO belt, in a bid to make a rematch happen.
The 31-year-old confirmed to Sky Sports that he had now vacated the IBF title, his first world title, which he won by defeating Ivan Baranchyk in Glasgow in 2019.
He vowed to “continue to do whatever it takes to be in a position to make the rematch” happen.
Catterall was convinced that he won the bout at the OVO Hydro and there has been bad blood between the two fighters on social media since then.
Taylor had defeated Baranchyk in the semi-final of the World Boxing Super Series (WBSS) before going on to beat Regis Prograis to win the tournament and the WBA title.
He then made history in unifying the division by taking a unanimous decision against Jose Carlos Ramirez to claim the WBC and WBO belts.
