A MUSSELBURGH-BASED boxer who is preparing for his next fight – a four-man tournament – has his eye on a chance of a Scottish title dream.
Welterweight Robbie Graham will meet Kyle Boyd, from Paisley, at the Lagoon Leisure Centre in Paisley on October 1 in his bid to be ‘Last Man Standing’.
Graham, a 27-year-old warehouse supervisor originally from Craigmillar but who now lives in Gorebridge, hones his skills in the ring at J&L Fitness and Boxing Club on High Street, Musselburgh.
A win in October will mean he will face either Elgin boxer Andrew Smart or Paul Deas, from Kirkcaldy, who will face off on September 3 at the Inverness Ice Centre for a place in the final.
Looking forward to the four-man tournament, Graham said: “Four undefeated boxers put their records on the line. The winner of each semi-final will advance into the final.”
The winner will be targeting a Scottish title next year.
Graham tasted victory in his first professional welterweight fight against Gary Maguire, from Castlemilk, in April at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Glasgow, winning 40-36 on points after four rounds.
His second fight was at the Crowne Plaza where he met Seamus Devlin and claimed a points victory of 39-37 after four rounds, moving up to super middleweight.
Graham told Courier Sport: “I can’t wait for the tournament.
“This is a chance to finally lay down my marker and prove to everyone in this division that I’m the best.
“This will be my first fight at six rounds and my third professional fight.”
