A YOUNG athlete has carried the Saltire during the official opening ceremony of an international event.
Ian Duncan was chosen to fly the flag at the CPISRA Frame Running Camp and International Cup 2022 in Copenhagen.
More than 120 frame runners from 17 countries took part in the 25th anniversary camp of the competition in the Danish capital city.
Duncan was competing in the Under-12 Junior Cup RR3 classification.
First up was the 100m and he was pushed hard to the line by the young Australian U14 RR2, Thomas Mattinson, but secured the gold medal in a time of 25.38s.
Next it was the 400m, a distance Duncan had never competed at.
Again, he ran a great race, posting a PB of 2m05.28s and another gold medal.
On the final day of the competition, it was the 200m and 60m finals.
The two young Australian athletes once again pushed him all the way but Duncan held his form and posted another two PB times en route to taking gold.
He completed the 200m in 50.88s and 60m in 15.05s.
Duncan, who lives in Edinburgh but travels to East Lothian to represent Team East Lothian, said: “This has been the best week of my life and I’ll be back next year.”
