BASIA Grodynska was twice defeated in the semi-finals of the Yonex Scottish National Badminton Championships.
The Longniddry athlete made it to the last four in both the women’s singles and women’s doubles of the national championships in Perth.
But on both occasions she lost out on the chance to battle it out for the title.
Seeded number two in the women’s singles, Grodynska had reached the semi-finals with victories over Iona Muir (17-21, 21-18, 21-18) and Ella Haime (21-10, 21-9).
However, joint third and fourth seed Abbie Brooks upset the seeding by winning 24-22, 21-12, before losing out to top seed Rachel Sugden in the final.
Grodynska then teamed up with Toni Woods to compete in the women’s doubles competition.
They were given a bye in the first round and ended the hopes of Nuria Clowes and Eva Tremble in the quarter-finals with a 21-6, 21-13 win.
However, they then faced the number one seeds – and eventual winners – Julie Macpherson and Ciara Torrance, who won 21-16, 21-9.
Also representing East Lothian at the Bell’s Sports Centre were Finlay Jack and Daniel Innes.
Both Jack, of North Berwick, and Innes, of Tranent, entered into the men’s singles and men’s doubles events.
Innes was unable to join Jack in the main draw for the singles when he went down 21-14, 18-21, 21-18 to Theo Johnston in qualifying.
Jack defeated qualifier Evan Kenny 21-9, 16-21, 21-13 to set up a contest with James Robertson in the second round. However, Robertson ultimately proved too strong, winning 21-12, 21-12.
Meanwhile, in the men’s doubles, Innes and partner Arslan Ahmed were given a walkover over Anthony and Michael McGuire in the first round.
However, they lost 21-9, 21-10 to second seeds and eventual runners-up Christopher and Matthew Grimley.
Jack teamed up with Matthew Waring but came unstuck at the same stage as Innes and Ahmed.
They defeated Scott Mackenzie and Leo McMillan 21-15, 21-11 in the first round but lost out to Thomas Bethell and Callum Crangle 21-11, 21-15 in the second round.
Finally, Jack and partner Sophie Barrie enjoyed success in the mixed doubles.
They defeated Sam Hume and Sophie Ford (19-21, 21-13, 21-12), and then Logan Ireland and Eva Tremble (21-19, 21-17) before losing out in the quarter-finals to Jack Macgregor and Sarah Sidebottom (21-11, 21-8).
