TRANENT racer Kieran Gordon enjoyed a “very positive” opening weekend of the season in the Volkswagen Cup.
The former Ross High pupil kickstarted his racing season at Oulton Park.
The 21-year-old qualified in fourth place for the opening race, despite a mechanical fault in Friday practice.
Kieran suffered a gearbox problem on the start line which saw him drop to 15th.
He recovered and moved up to 12th place by the end of the 20-minute race.
Gordon told Courier Sport: “I was slightly disappointed, but happy I had showed myself and the car have some great pace and will definitely be a force to reckoned with.
“It is a very positive start to the season and got some good points on the board.”
The county ace enjoyed a better start to race two, moving up from 12th to ninth in the opening lap.
He pushed for third place on the final bend, missing out by an agonising 0.035 of a second.
Gordon said: “After the race I was slightly disappointed, but happy I had showed myself and the car have some great pace and will definitely be a force to reckoned with.
