A 10-FOOT-TALL elf doll is out and about in East Lothian this month to help out a good cause.
The East Linton Elf will be raising funds and awareness for Carers of East Lothian, a charity supporting unpaid carers across the county, every day in December until midnight on Christmas Eve.
The East Linton Elf first appeared on December 1, 2022, to bring a bit of whimsy to local areas and support local causes for a brief 24 days each year.
Over the last two years, by visiting locations across Edinburgh and his home town of East Linton, the elf raised awareness and thousands of pounds for Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity and East Lothian Foodbank (Trussell), and reached thousands of people on social media.
This year, the East Linton Elf will tour East Lothian, popping up in locations across the county.
To keep an eye on the elf’s movements and fundraising throughout the month, follow him on Facebook (East Linton Elf) or Instagram (East_Linton_Elf), and donations are possible on his Just Giving page justgiving.com/page/ELElfinEastLothian
The East Linton Elf started his journey by visiting Carers of East Lothian at their office in East Lothian Community Hospital, Haddington, to learn more about the charity, research East Lothian, and chat with chief executive officer Jess Wade.
Staff were "delighted" to meet him and wish him luck on his December travels.
Jess said: "We are absolutely delighted to have been chosen as charity of the year for 2024 by East Linton Elf.
"Not only are we looking forward to hearing about the Elf's fundraising journey throughout December, we are also thrilled that he will visit so many places in the county, raising awareness of what we do to support unpaid carers."
