A COUNTY man who left a man with serious injuries following a brutal attack on Tranent High Street has avoided a prison sentence.
Stuart King launched the assault on Liam Browne by repeatedly punching him to the head on April 30 last year.
King then pushed Mr Browne on the body, where he fell to the ground, before repeatedly punching the man again while he was on the ground.
Court papers state that the assault was all to Mr Browne’s severe injury, permanent disfigurement and permanent impairment.
King, of Inchview Crescent, Wallyford, pleaded guilty to an amended indictment when he appeared at a trial diet at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on October 22.

Sentence was deferred for reports and he was released on bail.
The 39-year-old was back at the Capital court on Friday, where Sheriff Kenneth Campbell KC issued a sentence that was a direct alternative to prison.
King was placed under the supervision of the social work department for 24 months and told he must carry out the maximum term of 300 hours of unpaid work.
King was also fined a total of £2,000 that must be paid in full before December 17.
