A CHOIR is set to perform at a newly renamed church.

Cockenzie and Port Seton Community Choir will perform their festive concert at Cockenzie and Port Seton Parish Church, formerly known as Chalmers Memorial Church.

Chalmers Church recently merged with Cockenzie Old Parish Church to form the new church.

The choir has performed a Christmas concert in the village every year since its formation in 2016, but this is the first time hosting it within the church.

The concert is scheduled for Saturday, December 14, at 7pm, all welcome.

The concert will feature a mix of traditional carols and popular festive songs.

"We can't wait to perform our Christmas concert here for the first time."

The choir, which has about 40 members, has become a prominent part of the community, frequently performing at local events and celebrations.

Members rehearse every Monday evening at the Royal British Legion in Cockenzie.

Ms Swanson added: "Our concerts have become popular over the last few years.

"Audiences tell us they love the music and they love how the choir represents the best of the community.

"The choir brings together all different kinds of people, all different ages and from all walks of life, to create something special.

"And doing that at Christmas is a joy for everyone."
