A WOMAN who has spent more than 40 years volunteering in the community has been appointed a Deputy Lieutenant of East Lothian.
Jenny Harper, chair of the Lamp of Lothian, has been recognised for her dedication to the community.
Her voluntary work includes being involved with Meals on Wheels, the library home delivery service, Stenton Horticultural Society, Stenton Community Association and Stenton Footlights.
She was also a joint founder and treasurer of Riding for the Disabled at Overhailes Riding School in 1980.
Jenny was a governor and chairman of Belhaven Hill School for a combined 18 years, and was the president of the ladies' committee of Dunbar RNLI and fundraiser for 25 years.

Roderick Urquhart, Lord Lieutenant of East Lothian, said: "I am very pleased to welcome Jenny as a Deputy Lieutenant of East Lothian.
"She is a hard-working, community-minded volunteer who has already given decades of service to the county.
"I am delighted that she has now joined the East Lothian Lieutenancy."
Born in Midlothian, Jenny has lived near Stenton since 1979, raising her son and daughter with her husband Joe, chairman of Dods of Haddington Ltd, seed merchants.
She has also run her own garden landscaping business, Growing Gardens, with her business partner for the past 30 years.
The East Lothian Lieutenancy, which Jenny has now joined, assists with royal visits, honours, awards, the royal garden party, and in celebrating 100th birthdays and diamond wedding anniversaries.
The lieutenancy works closely with local charities, businesses and voluntary groups, and also with local reserve forces and cadet units.
