A TRAILER stolen from Elphinstone last week has travelled further than expected, after its number plates were found in Northumberland.
Dot Mckinley, owner of the horse trailer, has asked the public to keep an eye out for it and shared her appeal on “hundreds of groups on Facebook all over the country”.
She was initially hopeful that the trailer had not travelled far and businesses along the thieves’ potential routes checked CCTV for any signs, but there were no leads.

Dot was given an update on Sunday morning but the trailer has still not been located, and she said that the situation was “very frustrating” to deal with.
She said: “Police have confirmed that the plates that were on the trailer have been found in Northumberland.
“Sadly I’ve not heard anything else from the police.
“I’ve also been in touch with the North Wales Police to make this aware to the officers at Holyhead Port in case they try and move it to Ireland.”
Dot is not planning to give up on the search until the trailer is located and returned to her.
She added: “I’m lucky to have lots of friends and contacts. We have eyes everywhere.”
She is now keeping an eye on Facebook groups, as well as searching Marketplace and other similar sites in case the thieves try to sell it on.
