COUNTY residents woke up to snowy and bitterly cold conditions this morning as winter finally arrived - while some experienced power cuts.
A Met Office yellow weather warning for rain and snow is in place for East Lothian until 9am tomorrow.
Heavy snow is expected today, followed by a rapid thaw and subsequent rain on Saturday night.
Temperatures are around two or three degrees Celsius but a biting wind means it feels more like minus four or five, says the Met Office.
SP Energy Networks reported some power cuts, particularly in more rural areas, south of Haddington, such as Garvald, Papple and Whittingehame. Work is taking place to restore power to all affected properties.

Scotrail train services across East Lothian have so far been running as normal this morning but Lothian Buses announced serious service disruption.
A statement this morning said: "Due to adverse weather across the network, buses are unable to continue due to safety concerns.
"We sincerely apologise for this inconvenience caused, and thank you for your patience while our teams work to assess routes."
The winter weather has wiped out the local football and rugby card.
Rugby matches postponed are Haddington v Forrester, North Berwick v Whitecraigs, Musselburgh v Selkirk and Dunbar v Trinity Accies. Trinity Accies posted online that the Dunbar pitch was playable but the game was off "primarily due to travel issues".
Unsurprisingly, county golf courses were closed.
