Five overnight closures have been announced for the A1 southbound.
The closures will be in place between the Gladsmuir and Oaktree junctions from December 9 to December 13.
The closures will be in place between 7.30pm and 6am each night.
This is to allow for resurfacing works to take place.
The southbound carriageway will be closed at the Gladsmuir junction, with a diversion route signposted to the Oaktree junction via the A199.
This diversion will add two minutes and 0.2 miles onto affected journeys.
Emergency services will be given access through the works at all times.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s south east network manager, said: "These surfacing improvements will help to address the defects on this section of the A1 and will greatly improve the experience for motorists.
"It is essential for safety that we close the carriageway during the works, however we’ve arranged for the project to take place overnight to minimise the impact.
"The diversion is a short one, so we don’t expect any significant disruption.
"We thank motorists and the local community for their patience and understanding."
All work is weather dependent and subject to postponement or cancellation in the event of adverse conditions.
