A residential caravan park has submitted plans to build a social hub.

Monks Muir Park, at Markle, between East Linton and Haddington, has laid out proposals for a single-storey building designed to boost community engagement.

The building, featuring a mono-pitched roof, is planned for the eastern boundary of the site, adjacent to the visitors' parking area.

Residents would be able to use the hub for social activities, events, and as a resource centre, with the aim of enhancing social connections within the park.

A supporting statement for the development emphasised the potential hub's role in "fostering community spirit and connection among residents".

It stated the hub would "enhance the overall living experience, encourage inclusivity, and create a supportive environment where residents can build lasting friendships and share valuable resources".

The statement added that the hub would "enrich the sense of belonging" and increase the park's appeal to both current and prospective residents.

Public transport services are available near the site, supporting easy access for residents.

The proposed design incorporates standing seam metal and timber cladding over a brick base.

To minimise light pollution, the building would  feature motion sensor-activated lighting.
