THOUSANDS of pounds have been raised at a church’s biggest annual fundraiser.
Haddington came together for the Martinmas Fair at the town’s St Mary’s Parish Church last Saturday.
Provost John McMillan, who co-ordinated the event with his wife Mary, was full of praise for everyone who got involved or came along on the day to show their support.
He said: “It was an amazing morning.
“It was really, really well attended, everybody was enjoying it and there was a very warm buzz in the church.
“There were lots of visitors from all around the county.
“At the moment, we have collected around £6,000 with a few odds and ends to come in.
“It was just an amazing effort and a great team effort by people in the church.
“We were joined by people from Haddington West Church and had lots of helpers for stalls.”
Youngsters from Knox Academy visited the Sidegate church on Friday to help with the setting up for the event.
On the day, stalls were on hand selling homemade gifts and books, while there were refreshments served throughout the fundraising event.
Mr McMillan, who represents the town on East Lothian Council and stays near the church, added: “It just had a wonderful community feeling.
“Right to the end, people were sitting enjoying coffee and soup.”
