A SCHOOL pupil who has undergone various surgeries has given back by raising hundreds of pounds for Children in Need.
Youngsters at Wallyford Primary School were encouraged to support Hannah-Rose McGhee.
The seven-year-old has had a tracheotomy fitted and has undergone a number of operations after not breathing properly when she was born.
Ahead of the fundraiser, her mum Maureen said that they were busy organising a bake sale for the good cause, which brings people together across the country to raise money to help improve the lives of disadvantaged children and young people.
She said: “We decided we would organise a bake sale for Children in Need because I know they do quite a lot for children with tracheotomies with care packages.
“We have got a school care package but home-wise we do everything for her.
“We treat her as normally as possible and she is a child with a tracheotomy, not a tracheotomy child.”

And she was pleased to say that hundreds of pounds had been raised, while her daughter was presented with a Superhero Award in recognition of her efforts.
She said: “It went really, really well.
“A massive selection of cakes were handed in and literally everything went, which was good.”
Maureen, who is also mum to 19-year-old Lucy, Lauren, 17, and 13-year-old Holly, told the Courier that her youngest daughter’s airway was badly damaged at the top and narrow at the bottom.
The youngster, who is in primary four at the school, also had “a very large cyst” on the back of her tongue, which has impacted her movement of her tongue, and her vocal cords do not work, which has impacted her speech.
Despite those challenges, Hannah-Rose, who raised more than £580 for the good cause, has refused to let it set her back.
Her mum said: “In terms of impacting her, she does not let a thing stop her.
“She will do backflips off the couch.
“She does dancing three times a week and has a lovely group of friends at dancing and school.
“The only thing that is a wee bit frustrating for her is she cannot go to a friend’s house on her own.
"Her friends come here or I go there.”
The first Children in Need telethon took place in 1980 and, over the last 43 years, it has raised more than £1 billion.
This year, Ade Adepitan, Vernon Kay, Chris Ramsey, Rochelle Humes and Lenny Rush presented the annual appeal alongside Mel Giedroyc and raised more than £39 million.
Zena Diggle, headteacher at Wallyford Primary School, praised the youngster.
She said: “It is lovely to be able to support Hannah-Rose in her efforts to raise funds for Children in Need.
“We are incredibly proud of Hannah-Rose, who shows such resilience and enthusiasm every day at school.
“She is a credit to her family and our school community.”
