A FORMER Post Office which closed its doors more than 15 years ago could become part of the neighbouring home.
The Post Office on West Barns’ Edinburgh Road shut in November 2008 and East Lothian Council purchased the attached home three years ago.
Now, the local authority has applied to its own planning department for alterations and change of use of shop to “incorporate into living accommodation”.
The part-retrospective application is being weighed up by planning officials.
Drawings with the application indicate plans to create a bedroom with accessible shower room.
Work has already been carried out at the site because “we [East Lothian Council] thought this may be permitted development as 21A is located within the grounds of 21”.
