A GP PRACTICE is mourning the death of its practice manager just six weeks she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
Jane Johnston, manager of the The Harbours Medical Practice in Cockenzie, passed away last Friday.
In a statement, the practice paid their respects to Jane, who they said "will live on in the fabric of the building and in her dedication to her staff and our community".
The statement reads: "We are deeply saddened to tell you that on Friday, November 8, our beloved practice manager Jane Johnston died.
"She had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer just six weeks earlier.
"Quite simply, she was The Harbours Medical Practice.
"She will live on in the fabric of the building and in her dedication to her staff and our community. We will do our very best to honour her commitment to you.
"It will take us time to process her loss and consider with her family how else to commemorate her legacy.
"We ask for your patience and understanding during this time."
Since the statement was released by the practice, more than a hundred people have paid their respects on Facebook.
One person said: "My love and thought go out to Jane’s family and friends.
"Jane was a lovely lady and will be sadly missed in our wee village."
Another said: "This is devastating news. A huge blow with such little time to process. Thoughts are with all the family at this difficult time."
And a third added: "I am so, so sorry to hear about Jane. Such a lovely person. Thinking of her family and all of you at the practice."
